Candor Electric is proud to have supported the Rauner Family Veteran Studios, a transformative supportive housing development located in Chicago’s North Lawndale neighborhood. This five-story, approximately 45,000-square-foot building provides 90 fully furnished studio apartments for veterans experiencing or at risk of homelessness, along with on-site services designed to promote stability, health, and long-term independence.
Delivering reliable, efficient electrical systems for a project of this scale and mission required a comprehensive approach—one that balanced the demands of multifamily residential construction with the added complexity of integrated support services and life safety systems.
Candor Electric’s work contributed to the backbone of the facilities infrastructure built by GMA Construction Group, supporting full-building power distribution from utility service through unit-level delivery. Each residential unit was equipped with modern electrical systems designed for comfort, safety, and efficiency, including lighting, receptacles, and connections for high-performance HVAC systems.
Beyond the living spaces, the project includes a range of shared amenities and service areas—such as community rooms, offices for case management, and a computer lab—each requiring robust and flexible electrical and low-voltage infrastructure. Candor Electric helped ensure these spaces are equipped to support both daily operations and the critical services that residents rely on.
Given the building’s role as supportive housing for veterans, life safety and reliability were paramount. The electrical scope incorporated code-compliant fire alarm systems, emergency lighting, and backup power components to maintain essential functions and occupant safety at all times.
Exterior and site lighting systems were also implemented to enhance visibility, safety, and accessibility throughout the property, including pathways, parking areas, and outdoor gathering spaces.
Aligned with modern energy standards, the project incorporates high-efficiency lighting and control strategies that contribute to overall building performance while reducing long-term operational costs.
